Who is Gateway Life for?

Located in the heart of Wollongong, our facility is staffed by university qualified health and wellbeing professionals. We offer specialised exercise and clinical services to all walks of life including those in aged care, NDIS, living with a chronic disease and those who simply want to optimise their wellbeing.

Craig Thomson

Chief Executive Officer

Craig has over 25 years’ experience working in community and health services. He is passionate about developing innovative health approaches to assist people to maximise their wellbeing. His guiding principle is disease, illness, disability or age does not mean you cannot continue to enjoy the life you wish to lead.

Craig is a specialist change management leader, having led major transformation projects within the Government, private and not-for-profit sectors, both domestically and internationally. This includes the transformation of two leading disability NFPs into customer- centric businesses ready for the NDIS-created disability marketplace.

A proven business builder, Craig has achieved significant revenue and profitability increases in the leadership positions he has held via developing and implementing innovative strategies.

His qualifications include Bachelor of Business (Accounting, Economics, Business Law) and he is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Beshara Moubayed

Physiotherapist

Besh has completed a Doctor of Physiotherapy, graduating from the Macquarie University. He has a background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy as well as residential aged care physiotherapy. Besh has a strong passion for health and fitness and is a strong believer in the phrase “movement is medicine” which is reflected through his physiotherapy practice.

Physiotherapy services range from general assessments and diagnosis, mobility and falls assessments, education and advice, falls prevention classes, strength programs, pain management, injury management and rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation, managing chronic diseases, educational seminars and much more.

Besh will work closely with other allied health services offered at gateway life such as exercise physiology, occupational therapy and dietetics to ensure our clients receive optimal evidence-based healthcare tailed for their individual needs and goals.

Nina Eagle

Senior Occupational Therapist

Nina has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupation Therapy (OT) and has been working as an OT for over 25 years in a variety of fields including mental health, multiple sclerosis, dementia, aged care, work injury and CTP injury claims. She also established her own business in Remedial Massage and Yoga Therapy to expand her understanding of mind-body processes and to continue her work with people from a holistic approach.

Nina has recently joined the Community Gateway team to develop OT services for existing and future clients. She understands the impact of injury and disability on self-identity, life roles, home and community access and quality of life. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients to find ways to improve their independence, sense of wellbeing and sense of purpose.

Daniel Vallentine

Exercise Physiologist

Daniel has a master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology (rehabilitation) and a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science. Daniel’s background is in private clinical practice seeing a wide range of conditions including musculoskeletal, metabolic, neurological and auto immune. Daniel has experience working with a range of refer services including NDIS, Medicare, Workcover and DVA and has a particular interest in the NDIS, diabetes and men’s health. He has also run a successful gym providing coaching, programming and education sessions to general populations.

Daniel is passionate about helping people reach their health goals through education and physical activity prescription, whether it is rehab from an injury, managing a chronic condition or to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Nihal D'Silva Physio

Nihal D'Silva

Physiotherapist

Nihal is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. This means he has completed the four-year physiotherapy degree, as well as one year post graduate degree specialising in the musculoskeletal system. He has 20 years’ experience in the field working predominantly in private practice, but also in the hospital, rehabilitation and residential aged care environments. Further, he has completed a Bachelor of Philosophy/Theology and has a deep understanding about the human person and how pain or injury not only affect us physically, but psychologically, socially and spiritually.

Nihal is passionate about physiotherapy and is dedicated to his profession, completing numerous professionally development courses through the years. His passion extends to empowering patients with the knowledge and experience he has gained to help them understand the science behind their issues and how to overcome them. Also, he enjoys mentoring younger physiotherapists in their professional career to refine their clinical reasoning and perfect their manual therapy techniques.

Apart from diagnosing and treating the common sprain and strain injuries, he is specialised in Whiplash injuries, Vestibular dysfunctions/disorders, Temporomandibular joint pain/dysfunctions, chronic pain, work related injuries, age related pain and dysfunctions, and uses a vast array of treatment approaches including joint mobilisation and manipulation, muscle energy techniques, dry needling, electrotherapy, Mulligan’s technique as well as acute, sub-acute and chronic therapeutic exercises.

On a social level, Nihal is married to his beautiful wife Christina, and they have 3 young children. He is also part of a missionary community who outreaches to youth and the less fortunate here in Australia, as well as the Philippines and Indonesia. He loves the outdoors and nature, plays the guitar and sings. His favourite food is Indian .

He is excited about his new role within Gateway Life and believes it is providing a vital service here in the Illawarra.
